Montgomery, AL – The Alabama Education Association is hoping to raise 200-thousand dollars to help Hurricane Katrina's victims who are now in state schools. Money collected through the statewide campaign will be distributed through the A-E-A Foundation Hurricane Relief Fund. The state Department of Education estimates four-thousand students from Louisiana and Mississippi have enrolled in Alabama schools since the storm struck more nearly three weeks ago. Executive Secretary Paul Hubbert nearly all Alabama students have returned to class, but hundreds of teachers and support staff lost their homes during the storm.
