Alabama Supreme Court Denies Arthur Stay of Execution

By Associated Press

Montgomery AL – The Alabama Supreme Court has denied a stay of execution for death row inmate Tommy Arthur, who faces lethal injection at Holman prison unless the U.S. Supreme Court intervenes.
The 65-year-old Arthur has petitioned the nation's high court for a stay because the court agreed to hear a challenge to lethal injection in Kentucky.
Seven justices on the Alabama Supreme Court denied the stay request Wednesday. The two remaining justices did not vote.
Arthur was sentenced to death for the 1982 murder-for-hire killing of 35-year-old Troy Wicker of Muscle Shoals.
