Dale County Farm Family Wins Award

By Associated Press

Mobile AL – A Dale County couple has been named the state's top young farm family, an award presented Sunday by the Alabama Farmers Federation during its convention in Mobile.

The award went to Chris and Monica Carroll and their children, Brittney, 6, and Blake, 5.

The Carrolls own and operate 4C Land & Cattle Co. Besides cattle, they also raise poultry, commercial vegetables and timber.

The Outstanding Young Farm Family award includes a new John Deere Gator sponsored by Federal Land Bank, the use of a 2008 Dodge Nitro for a year, an IBM computer package from ValCom Business Centers of Alabama, a voucher for $500 in Valvoline products and $500 cash from Dodge.

In January, the Carrolls will compete for the American Farm Bureau's Young Farmers and Ranchers Achievement Award in New Orleans.
