Washington – Alabama U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions' office is investigating another missing computer that could expose some active and retired Air Force personnel to possible identity theft.
Authorities at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, D.C., say the military records of thousands of individuals is on an Air Force Band member's missing laptop computer. It was discovered missing in mid-November. An Air Force spokesman said its unclear why the band member had such detailed information on so many service men and women dating back almost 50 years.
Major David Malakoff, a base spokesman, declined to say if the Air Force will provide credit monitoring for personnel whose identification could be at risk. He recommends those affected should contact Air Force legal authorities for guidance.
So far, many questions remain unanswered two months later.
