Montgomery, AL – The lead negotiator in six-nation talks to get North Korea to dismantle its nuclear program says the discussions aren't just important to the country but also to cities like Montgomery that have obvious Korean influence.
Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill spoke to students at the Air War College at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery on Wednesday. He later told a news conference that the outcome of the talks would affect a city like Montgomery where the South Korean automaker Hyundai operates an assembly plant on the city's southern edge.
Another South Korean auto manufacturer, Kia, is building an assembly plant in West Point, Ga., about 80 miles east of Montgomery. He said already strong relations between the U.S. and South Korea would be strengthened by removing the nuclear threat in North Korea.
