Sparks Proposes Plan To Improve Roads And Bridges

Montgomery, AL – Democratic candidate for governor Ron Sparks has a plan he believes will replace decaying roads and bridges across the state.

Sparks said Thursday his plan would pump about $1.4 billion into the construction and repair of roads and bridges over ten years.

Sparks made the announcement during a news conference on the steps of the Alabama Statehouse. He said he would pay for the roads and bridges with a $400 million bond issue and by taking $100 million a year for 10 years from a state oil and gas funds savings account.

Sparks said his plan would make Alabama roads and highways safer and create thousands of jobs to do the construction and repair work.
