Sotheby's To Auction An Original Apple Computer

RENEE MONTAGNE, HOST:

OK, let's turn now to a high-tech device that has stood the test of time. Our last word in business, Apple I. it was Apple's first computer back in 1976. And now you can own one. Sotheby's is auctioning off one of about six in existence that still function. It's expected to fetch up to $180,000. And while the Apple I still works, its design shows how expectations have changed. The only thing included was a circuit board. If customers wanted a case or a power supply or a monitor, they were on their own.

And that's the business news on MORNING EDITION from NPR News. I'm Renee Montagne.

DAVID GREENE, HOST:

And I'm David Greene.
