The Man Who Came to Dinner

The Man Who Came to Dinner

The Man Who Came to Dinner opens November 6 at CCT
What happens when a dinner guest slips on the front steps and refuses to leave? Absolute disaster — and comedy gold.
As celebrated but self-centered critic, lecturer and radio personality Sheridan Whiteside, played by Bill Watts, recuperates from his injury, his domineering presence disrupts the orderly life of Mesalia, Ohio, homeowners Ernest and Daisy Stanley (Joe Brown and Rhonda Ray).
Written by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman, The Man Who Came to Dinner portrays the classic clash between outsider celebrity culture and small-town domestic bliss. It is directed by Cathy Bouler with assistant director Rebecca Heath.
Savannah Lyle appears as Whiteside’s sharp-witted private secretary, Maggie Cutler, who seeks a more conventional life after falling in love with journalist Bert Jefferson, played by Andrew Crider. Other cast members include E.A. Keeble as Ernest Stanley’s reclusive and intriguing sister Harriet, Ed Kryger as would-be author Dr. Bradley, Lisa Hellman as manipulative actress Lorraine Sheldon, Brian Jackson as the flamboyant playwright Beverly Carlton and Lily Glass as the no-nonsense Nurse Preen.,Søren Odom doubles as both the eccentric entomologist Professor Metz and Hollywood comedian Banjo while Brik Finley and Cassidy Rutherford appear as the Stanley children, Richard and June. Sierra Patrick, Lisa Hayes Schrimpshire, Chandler Pittman, Cindy Brady, Helen Deakle and D.J. Cobb round out the cast.
The Man Who Came to Dinner will be presented for two four-day weekends, opening Thursday, November 6, and closing Sunday, November 16. Shows are at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays and at 2:30 p.m. Sundays.
