Voting Rights Act Commemoration Cookout
Voting Rights Act Commemoration Cookout
On August 6, 2024, The Bridge Crossing Jubilee nonprofit organization will be commemorating the annual observance of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 here in Selma, Alabama. The event will take place from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM at 7 U.S. Hwy 80, directly across from the iconic Edmund Pettus Bridge, the site of Bloody Sunday which played a pivotal role in the passage of this landmark civil rights legislation.
The commemoration will include a community cookout with free food. We anticipate attendance from numerous local and national officials, making this a key event for both historical reflection and community engagement.
We would greatly appreciate it if you could announce this event to reach as many people as possible. Your support in spreading the word will be invaluable in ensuring the success of this important occasion!
