Supreme Court Race Still Undecided

By Alabama Public Radio

Birmingham, AL – It may be another week before a Republican primary for the state Supreme Court is decided. The margin between Jefferson County Probate Judge Mike Bolin and Covington County Circuit Judge Jerry Stokes is still too close to call. Bolin received another 300 votes Wednesday when Jefferson County election officials discovered some uncounted ballots from Tuesday's primary. Stokes received an extra 40 votes. Bolin is hoping to win the nomination without a runoff, but a final tally won't be known until statewide provisional ballots are counted. The nominee will face Democratic circuit judge John Rochester in November.
