Montgomery, AL – An attorney for the Goff Group says a complaint filed by the state Insurance Department is an attempt to ruin the company. Attorney Tommy Gallion made the comments in a letter he wrote to state Insurance Commissioner Walter Bell on behalf of the 30-year-old firm. The complaint accuses the company and its president, John Goff, of collecting more than 800-thousand-dollars of premiums from Alabama customers and agents in 2002 -- and then NOT passing the money along to companies that were actually writing the insurance. A spokesman for the Insurance Department says the government acted after receiving complaints from customers. He says the complaints were investigated thoroughly.
