Columbus, MS – Another Tuskegee Airman has died. Alva Temple died Saturday at his home in Columbus, Mississippi. He was 87 years old. Temple attended Pickens County Training School and later went to Alabama A-and-M to pursue agricultural education. He then transferred to Tuskegee Institute in 1941 and took advantage of the Army Air Force's program to train blacks as military pilots. Temple was in the Air Force for 20 years. He flew during World War Two and completed 120 missions. The funeral is scheduled for Saturday at 11 a-m at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Carrollton. Burial will be at Cook Cemetery on Alabama Highway 14 in Pickens County.
