Authorities Will Monitor Roadways for Holiday

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – The Alabama Department of Public Safety will be a very visible force during the Labor Day holiday weekend. Troopers say they will be on extra alert for impaired drivers and speeders. Officers also plan to increase enforcement of seat belt and child restraint laws. They plan to form special enforcement details that will include line patrols and checkpoints. Public Safety officials estimate 15 people may die in traffic accidents during the 78-hour holiday travel period. It begans at 6 o'clock Friday and ends at midnight Monday.
