Fireworks Display Returns to Mobile

By Alabama Public Radio

Mobile, AL – New Year's fireworks on the Mobile River will return this year after a two-year absence. The celebration begins at 10 p.m. on New Year's Eve at Cooper Riverside Park between the convention center and the cruise ship terminal. City officials say the free event will feature the area band Emerge. Fireworks begin at midnight at a location across Mobile River. The fireworks display is expected to last about 25 minutes. The last New Year's fireworks show on the river was in 2001. You can find more information at the web site, www.cityofmobile.org.
