Scrushy Trial Delayed One Week

By Alabama Public Radio

Birmingham, AL – The attorneys representing former HealthSouth C-E-O Richard Scrushy will have an extra week to consider more evidence. Federal Judge Karon Bowdre Monday delayed the trial one week. She said she "reluctantly" agreed, but did so in the interest of justice. She rescheduled opening statements for January 25th. Scrushy has pleaded innocent to charges he orchestrated a conspiracy to overstate HealthSouth earnings by more than two-point-six billion dollars. His charges include fraud, conspiracy and obstruction of justice.
