Two Cities Compete for Aircraft Facility

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – Mobile and Huntsville are competing for a possible aircraft assembly plant that could employ more than 11-hundred people. European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company, which is based in France, launched a site search last month. The facility would build K-C-330 aerial refueling tankers for the Pentagon. The company is bidding against Boeing for the contract. Delegations from Huntsville and Mobile will attend a briefing on the project soon. The Alabama Development Office also is involved, and director Neal Wade says state officials will not favor one city over the other.
