Company Fined for Violating Child Labor Laws

By Alabama Public Radio

Robertsdale, AL – The federal Department of Labor has fined a Robertsdale company for violating child labor laws. The Labor Department assessed an almost $12,000 fine against Morgan's Ice Incorporated. Labor investigators say they found minors working in hazardous jobs at the company's East Silverhill Avenue facility. They say seven 16-year-old workers were operating forklifts. Two were also working on delivery trucks in Baldwin and Mobile Counties. The law requires employees working with that kind of equipment to be at least 18 years old.
