Montgomery, AL – Eight Democratic state Senators challenged Lowell Barron's position as president pro tem of the Alabama Senate Tuesday night. But Barron says Senators always become fractious near the end of the session, and teh bad feelings will blow over after the session ends May 16. The Senators say they'll propose a rules change Thursday that will make it easier to remove the president pro tem. The measure would allow the president pro tem to be removed by a vote of 18 of the 35 Senators, rather than 21. Barron says changing the Senate's rules will take 21 of the 35 members, and he says he's not worried.
