Montgomery, AL – State, county and local law enforcement officers are participating in the nationwide "Click It or Ticket" campaign. It started earlier this week and ends June fifth. State Public Safety Director, Colonel Mike Coppage, says seatbelt use is increasing. But, he says more than half of the people killed in rural traffic accidents this year were not wearing seatbelts. He says extra troopers will patrol popular vacation routes during the Memorial Day holiday weekend. Troopers estimate 17 people may die in traffic accidents in Alabama over the travel period. It begins Friday at 6 p-m and ends at midnight on Monday.
