Montgomery, AL – Law enforcement officials across the state are reporting at least 11 traffic deaths in eight Alabama counties during the 78-hour Memorial Day weekend. The Department of Public Safety says traffic fatalities were recorded in Colbert, Conecuh, Dallas, Escambia, Macon, Madison, Morgan, and Tuscaloosa Counties. Troopers had estimated that 17 people would die on Alabama roads during the Memorial Day weekend travel period. The holiday weekend officially started Friday at 6 p.m. and ended at midnight Monday.
