Memphis, TN – A former Alabama football booster was scheduled to go to court Monday for sentencing on a racketeering conspiracy conviction. Logan Young of Memphis was convicted of bribing a high school coach to get a top recruit for the Alabama Crimson Tide. However, he and his attorneys are hoping Young will avoid prison. Young's lawyers say he needs a kidney transplant and would not get proper medical care if he were in prison. Defense lawyer James Neal says Young could be sentenced to a fine, probation, house arrest or a combination of alternatives other than prison. But Assistant U-S Attorney Fred Godwin says the government wants Young to serve a prison term of 24 to 30 months.
