Cop Killer Executed by Lethal Injection

By Alabama Public Radio

Atmore, AL – George Sibley was strapped to a gurney at Holman Prison near Atmore Thursday night; he then gave a final statement saying everyone who was carrying out his execution was guilty of murder. Sibley was executed just before 6:30 p.m. Thursday for the 1993 killing of Opelika police officer Roger Motley. Sibley's common-law wife, Lynda Block, was executed for the same crime in 2002. Motley's widow, Juanita Motley Kirkwood, says justice was served. Officials say Sibley was an anti-government extremist.
