Montgomery, AL – Members of the Sidney Lanier High School Marching Poets Band were shocked when they arrived at their Montgomery school for what was supposed to be a day of cleaning and painting. Instead they faced a day of picking up the pieces. Vandals had entered the band room sometime between Wednesday and Saturday, shattering glass and destroying vending machines. The vandals also stole about $10,000 worth of instruments. Sidney Lanier's band director, Jess Turner, says the incident makes it difficult for the band members with the football season approaching.
