State Troopers Continue Katrina Duty

Montgomery, AL – About 75 state troopers are continuing to provide security patrols and to assist victims of Hurricane Katrina. Alabama Public Safety Director Mike Coppage says troopers are maintaining a continuous presence in the areas devastated by the hurricane. Coppage says troopers are conducting security patrols. He says the patrols are designed to prevent looting, enforce curfews and to help in the distribution of food, water and other supplies.
