Guntersville's Mayoral Race Goes to Supreme Court

Guntersville, AL – The dispute over Guntersville's mayoral race will go to the Alabama Supreme Court. Last spring, Mayor James Townson appealed a ruling that named Bob Hembree Junior the winner of the August 2004 mayoral race. The margin of victory was two votes. Before that, Townson's attorneys had appealed another ruling from Marshall County Circuit Judge Tim Jolley that gave Hembree the win by one vote. Justices are scheduled to hear the case November 17th at the University of North Alabama
