Birmingham, AL – Former HealthSouth CFO Weston Smith testified in U-S- District Court that Crumpler attended so-called ``family'' meetings of company officials who engineered the fraud. Scrushy was acquitted in June of all charges in the $2-point-7 billion fraud, but fifteen former HealthSouth executives pleaded guilty. Some of those executives implicated Crumpler while testifying at Scrushy's trial. Crumpler has pleaded not guilty. Crumpler is charged with one count of conspiracy and one count of making false statements to auditors. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison and nearly $1-point-3 million in fines. Prosecutors are also seeking $2-point-2 million they claim Crumpler made from the accounting fraud.
