Birmingham, AL – A Birmingham jury Friday convicted former HealthSouth executive Hannibal Sonny Crumpler for his role in a two-point-seven billion dollar scandal at the company. He was convicted of conspiracy and lying to auditors. Jurors did not agree with defense claims that Crumpler was a fall guy. He was a division controller at HealthSouth who later became the finance chief of a spin-off company. Prosecutors want Crumpler turn serve 15 years in prison and pay more than one million dollars in fines.
