Montgomery, AL – A complaint against state Senator Hank Sanders will have to wait. The Alabama Ethics Commission delayed a decision as to whether or not Sanders violated state laws by using his position in the Legislature to steer state money to groups run by family members. The commission voted 4-1 to continue the case at their February meeting. Birmingham radio hosts Russ and Dee Fine filed the complaint in 2003 after The Birmingham News reported that five groups tied to Sanders received more than $4.3 million in state money. The non-profit organizations received the money between 1996 and 2003.
