Montgomery, AL – The members of five subcommittees formed under the Alabama Open Records Study Task Force were asked to submit their proposals by September first. State Senator Blaine Galliher says the goal of the 42-member task force is to have new open records legislation that clearly defines what are public records, how they can be accessed, and what are exceptions, by the 2007 regular legislative session. Galliher and Senator Zeb Little, sponsored a new law giving citizens greater access to public meetings in Alabama. Galliher says better access to public records is the next step to having a ``transparent government.''
