Birmingham, AL – The company announced the donations Wednesday, saying it wanted to do more for its customers this year in light of increasing natural gas prices. The weatherization kits include caulk, a caulk gun, foam insulation, door sweep, cloth and clear tape, foam weather-stripping, plus outlet and switch gaskets. The company has also donated 200-thousand dollars to be shared among agencies within the company's seven operating divisions. Utility companies across the state have increased rates in the past months after a hot summer and back-to-back hurricanes helped slow production. Alabama Gas is the largest natural gas utility in the state with 460,000 customers throughout central Alabama.
