Gadsden State to Get New Facility

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – The new 85-thousand-square-foot building in Centre would replace the four-thousand-square-foot rented building, which serves about 125 students. In February, Governor Bob Riley awarded the college 5.5 million dollars in bonds to be used for the project. The state schools board authorized, in a six-to-one vote yesterday, 12.2 million dollars in bonds for construction. School board member Randy McKinney voted against the project, saying he was uncertain whether spending millions on a facility so close to the main campus was a good idea. The main campus in Etowah County is about 25 miles away with more than 8,000 students enrolled.
