Another Charge for Siegelman and Scrushy

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – Federal prosecutors say the new indictment adds a conspiracy charge against Siegelman and Scrushy. It says the two conspired to provide HealthSouth with membership on, and influence over, a state hospital regulatory board by using hidden payments and financial relationships. The new indictment also adds more mail fraud counts against Siegelman and Scrushy. The two men were indicted in October, along with two former members of Siegelman's Cabinet. The new indictment doesn't change the charges that were filed in October against former Cabinet members Paul Hamrick and Mack Roberts. The grand jury has been investigating the Siegelman administration since June 2004.
