Montgomery, AL – Educators and state employees are hoping for another pay raise. They got a six percent cost of living raise in October. But the leaders of their associations say they need another increase because pay generally has not kept up with recent cost of living increases. Paul Hubbert, executive secretary of the Alabama Education Association, says he wants a five percent pay increase for teachers and school support workers. Mac McArthur, executive director of the Alabama State Employees Association, says his group also wants a raise for state employee, but he says the group has not yet decided how much.
