Blood Shortage in Alabama

By Alabama Public Radio

Undated, AL – The holiday season is a tough time to find blood. Medical workers are reporting shortages, and so is the American Red Cross. There's usually a significant drop off in blood donors this time of year, and some hospital workers says that's partly to blame for the shortage. One spokeswoman says there is a severe shortage of O negative, B-negative and B-positive blood. Perhaps the most critical shortage is the O- blood type. It is often used in emergency situations.
