Washington, DC – Methamphetamine and the labs used to make it are very toxic. Governor Bob Riley and Attorney General Troy King say it's Alabama's top drug problem. Congress is taking notice, too. The U-S House has voted to authorize research into the health dangers posed by met labs, especially those in homes and apartments. The effort also would suggest ways to clean up such sites. Lawmakers are worried former meth labs could become health hazards. Families who move into those buildings could unknowingly expose themselves to toxic leftovers.
