By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – Alabamians are joining others across the nation today in celebrating the life and accomplishments of Doctor Martin Luther King, Junior. At one o'clock this afternoon, a march and rally were scheduled to begin in Montgomery. Marchers were expected to walk up Dexter Avenue and then hold a rally on the state Capitol steps. It's just one of dozens of events planned for today. This morning in Birmingham, more than two-thousand people attended an annual breakfast at the Birmingham- Jefferson Civic Center. Observances also are planned in Mobile. An annual march in that city was scheduled to take place at noon.
