Constitutional Reform Rally Set for January 25

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – Organizers at Alabama Citizens for Constitutional Reform say school students will read the 1901 constitution and its 750 amendments as part of the rally. State Senator Ted Little and state Representative Demetrius Newton are scheduled to speak at the rally. The two legislators have introduced a bill in support of a constitutional convention to write a new constitution. Organizers say representatives of the constitutional reform group and others plan to present to the Legislature petitions with 60,000 signatures calling for a new constitution.
