Corruption Case for Siegelman and Others Begins in April

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – Prosecutors have charged four men in the case and want to try them together -- former Governor Don Siegelman, his former chief of staff, Paul Hamrick, former Transportation Director Mack Roberts and former HealthSouth CEO Richard Scrushy. The actual trial is set to begin May first. Siegelman likes the dates because it's likely the trial will be over before Democratic primary in June. Siegelman is running for another term as governor. But the judge says the schedule could change. He's considering requests from Scrushy and Roberts to try them separately from Siegelman and Hamrick.
