Montgomery, AL – The Senate voted 31-to-nothing Tuesday for the legislation. Attorney General Troy King says the vote shows Alabama is determined to protect children. The bill's sponsor, state Senator Larry Dixon, says the legislation updates Alabama's current law against depicting children under 17 in sex acts by including modern media, such as DVDs and computer and other electronic images. It also specifies that each depiction of a child is a separate violation. King says that 100 different computer images of the same child could result in 100 charges. The legislation still must pass the House. Dixon says that shouldn't be a problem because the bill has strong bipartisan support.
