Kraft Will Close Facility in Hoover

By Alabama Public Radio

Hoover, AL – Hoover is about to lose one of its local employers. Kraft has announced it will close its production facility there. The company is starting another round of nationwide cutbacks. As many as 20 plants may close during the process, and about eight thousand jobs will be cut. The new round of cutbacks will continue through 2008. Kraft had already announced it was going to close 19 production facilities and cut 55-hundred jobs in a previous effort to make the company smaller. Kraft expects to save 700 million dollars a year after the changes. It's the nation's largest food manufacturer.
