Soldiers Return to Troy Today

Troy, AL – One-hundred-20 Alabama National Guard soldiers are coming home today after spending 15 months in Iraq. Members of the Third Battalion, 117th Artillery of Troy are scheduled to return to their home armory this afternoon around 4:30. Major General Gary Quick, commander of the 62nd Troop Command, will greet soldiers and their families during the welcome home ceremony at the Fort Ralph W- Adams armory. The 117th has detachments in Phenix City, Elba and Union Springs. The 117th mobilized in November of 2004, and the soldiers provided convoy security missions for U-S and coalition forces in Iraq. The unit has spent the past several days at Camp Shelby, Mississippi.
