Church Fires Ruled as Arson

By Alabama Public Radio

Centreville, AL – Last week's church fires in Bibb County have been declared as arson. Now, the five rural churches can begin filing insurance claims. That could be a challenge, though, because some of the churches were considered historic structures. They were built with very old square nails. Ragan Ingram, a spokesman for the state Insurance Department, says that makes it difficult to estimate the churches' value. Three of the churches were destroyed, and two were damaged. So far, there have been no arrests, and investigators haven't said publicly what kind of evidence they've found at the churches.
