Moore Critical of GOP Party Chair

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – Alabama Republican Party Chairwoman Twinkle Andress Cavanaugh says she will not step down from her duties. Gubernatorial candidate Roy Moore is asking her to step aside until the June 6th Republican primary. He says she's biased in favor of Governor Bob Riley, and he points to the party's recent newsletter as an example. It promotes the state's strong economy during Riley's administration and his handling of Hurricane Katrina. Moore says Cavanaugh should be neutral until the party has an official nominee. Cavanaugh says the article compares Republican and Democratic administrations, and she wasn't trying to promote any candidate.
