Birmingham, AL – The Sixteenth Street Baptist Church in Birmingham is now officially a national landmark. The church became known across the world in 1963 when four girls died during a Sunday morning bombing there. U-S Attorney General Alberto Gonzales attended yesterday's ceremony and spoke about Addie Mae Collins, Carole Robertson, Cynthia Wesley and Denise McNair. He also discussed the recent church arsons in parts of rural Alabama. Gonzales says the church fires are a reminder more work needs to be done to ensure equal justice and to fight discrimination.
