GOP Chair Leaves Lobbying Firm

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – Twinkle Andress Cavanaugh has quit her job with a Mississippi lobbying group. The firm's clients include casino operators, and that was enough to generate some political criticism. Cavanaugh is chair of the Alabama Republican Party. She says her work for Capitol Resources did not involve gambling. She says her contract even stated she would not work on gambling issues. But, she says she quit to ensure there is no appearance of a conflict of interest. Capitol Resources is one of Mississippi's most influential lobbying firms.
