Tuscaloosa AL – The deadline for Alabamians to claim millions of dollars in income tax returns is drawing near. More than 27-thousand Alabamians have yet to submit a 2002 tax return, and those returns are worth a total of about 24-and-a-half million dollars. The average refund is about 550-dollars. The deadline to submit is April 17th. If taxpayers don't claim the money by then, it goes to the U-S Treasury Department.
