Montgomery, AL – Alabama's Democrats are doing pretty well as far as campaign funding is concerned. And, they'll probably need it if they want to keep control of the state legislature. Coming into this year's legislative elections, House Speaker Seth Hammett has more than one million dollars in his campaign bank account. So far, there's no opponent challenging him for his seat. And, Hammett says he hopes to spend much of that money to help incumbent House Democrats hold onto their seats. He calls his strategy "the incumbent protection program." He says even if someone enters the race against him before qualifying ends in a few weeks, he'll still use much of his campaign funds to help other Democrats. Over in the Senate, President Pro Tem Lowell Barron has more than 711-thousand dollars in his campaign account. He also has no current opposition. Democrats hold a 61-to-43 margin in the House and 25-to-10 margin in the Senate.
