Riley Will Testify About Shrimpers

By Alabama Public Radio

Washington, D.C. – Governor Bob Riley will be among four Gulf Coast governors to testify today before the U-S Senate Appropriations Committee. They'll be talking about the needs of people still living in hurricane-damaged areas. Riley is expected to talk about south Alabama's shrimpers. Hurricane Katrina beached many of their boats, and shrimpers haven't returned to work because insurance companies and the federal government haven't really helped them. The committee also will hear from the governors of Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas. The Bush administration has proposed a 19 billion dollar package to rebuild the Gulf Coast.
