Church Burning Hearing Delayed

By Alabama Public Radio

Tuscaloosa, AL – A federal court hearing has been delayed for three men accused of setting fire to a Baptist church in rural Bibb County. Russell Lee DeBusk Junior, Benjamin Nathan Moseley and Matthew Lee Cloyd are being held on federal charges of conspiracy and burning down a church. They are also suspected in setting fire to eight other churches, but only have been charged so far with burning Ashby Baptist Church. Their lawyers requested the delay, and the hearing before U.S. Magistrate Robert Armstrong has been moved to Wednesday at 3 oclock. The three men are Birmingham area college students, and authorities believe alcohol was a factor in the crime.
