Montgomery, AL – Alabama state troopers will receive a significant pay raise beginning June first under a bill signed into law Tuesday by Governor Bob Riley. Troopers and corporals will get a ten percent pay increase ... sergeants and lieutenants get a seven-and-a-half percent bump ... and captains and higher ranks get 5-percent. State Representative John Knight says the pay increase is needed to lure and retain recruits into the trooper program. Currently, troopers can make more money by changing to some local police jobs after receiving their training.
